Just few hours after its debut in the market (in particular, hitting the stores of the United States), the Apple smartphone is already suffering its first shortcomings. Some users have complained the new design of the antennas causes occasional problems related to the cell phone reception, which is something that was not happening so frequently with the previous versions of the smartphone.
A quick justification for this situation has been presented by the Cupertino company. According to the official explanation, the shortcomings are appearing because the customers are gripping the smartphone in an incorrect way since they are blocking with their hands the two antennas of the iPhone concurrently (these two antennas are built into the external magnetic band that encircles this new gadget).
Apple spokesman Nat Harrison explains it this way: “Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone.”
Apparently, this excuse could be valid, especially if we keep in mind that other smartphones like the HTC Droid Incredible, the Nexus One 3G, and even the iPhone 3G would be suffering similar problems, according to recent reports and complaints from dissatisfied users (see videos below).
