Maybe you remember those announcements about the Asus Eee Keyboard during last year. It is a fully functional home theater PC that looks like a keyboard. The first time that it was officially shown was during CES 2009. But, since that time, its launch has been deferred several times. Now, it is appearing again; but the difference is that you can buy it or, at least, you can pre-order it.
Amazon is now accepting pre-orders of this gadget with a price of $599. However, there is not a confirmed launch date yet. The American-based multinational electronic commerce company just says that “You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives.” Considering that currently the Eee Keyboard has a vaporware status, you should think carefully before buying this product because there is a little possibility it may be deferred again and again. But, anyway, the fact that Amazon is accepting pre-orders is a good signal and, apparently, the official launch is coming soon.

According to the “Technical Details” posted on Amazon, the system has a last-generation Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 16GB SSD drive, Ultra Wide Band built in transmitter and external receiver, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, gigabit Ethernet jack, HDMI port, VGA port, and three USB 2.0 ports. Besides, it comes with a 5-inch LED touch-screen with a 800×480 resolution and Windows XP Home pre-installed.
Asus claims that the Eee Keyboard will be launched during this month but, of course, this is not the first time that Asus makes this announcement
. Actually, the company has announced the launch of this product since January 2009! We’ll see.
