ASUs Rolls Out PCs with Boston-Power’s Sonata Batteries

The ASUS B series laptops will now ship with Boston-Powers Sonata batteries.  Available platforms include the B43 14.1 inch version and the B53 15.6 inch version.  These batteries are pretty revolutionary because though they won’t last longer between charges, they have a lifetime of three years or better. In fact, they’re guaranteed to work at 80% of their capacity for that long.

The list of customization is pretty lengthy with these two laptops.  Either can be outfitted with a Core i5 or Core i7 processor.  In addition, you can choose between ATI’s Mobility Radeon 5470 or integrated Intel graphics (spring for the upgrade—trust me!)  You can also opt for 2GB or 4GB of RAM but I can’t imagine anyone choosing the lesser.

The hard drive is a standard 320GB, which is pretty tiny compared to most run-of-the-mill PCs these days but it’s still usable.

However, all of this power doesn’t come with a comfortable price.  The B53 is set to launch now with a $1,099 tag—which is a bit much in my opinion.  Still, if you want to get your hands on one of those sonata batteries but just don’t want an HP, the ASUS B series is your only other option.
