It’s interesting to wonder what an extraterrestrial being would think if it comes to Earth within 10,000 years and begins to make some archaeological excavations to know more about the extinct human species. Maybe, the inquisitive alien would think we were a primitive race comprised of curious beings who adored strange commercial symbols and who had extravagant fertility rites like, for example, observing 22 humans in underwear running through a field in order to kick a spherical object.

Christopher Locke\'s fossilized electronic gadgets

Artist and blogger Cristopher Locke seems to have thought something like this and he has made public a collection of fake fossils with gadgets that have fallen into disuse now.

The fossils have been made using “gadgets-shaped” concrete molds. The gadgets that were used include a Playstation controller, an iPod, a rotary dial telephone, a hard drive and a 3.5-inch floppy disc, among other objects.

But Cristopher Locke did something else. Locke has labeled this work by using Latin scientific names and each “fossil” has its own denomination; some examples of these names include “Egosiliqua Malusymphonicus” (iPod), “Ambulephebus sonysymphonia” (walkman), or “Dexteludicrum repuerasco” (Game Boy). The artist also made some general comments in heartlessmachine.com about the history of each fossil and he used a scientific style in his writing.
