The Nikon D90 is one of the most venerable DSLRS out there with tons of professional and pro-sumer users.  Unfortunately, most geotagging units available for that line of camera steal the hotshoe slot and get in the way, limiting not only your portability but your versatility and the types of other peripherals you can use.  That’s why it so cool that Foolography has just released a new Geotagging module that is not only compatible but dead simple to use.

The Bluetooth compatible devices simply plug into the port on your camera and capture data from an existing GPS unti and then encode within your photos.  True, you do have to have your own GPS that’s Bluetooth compatible to use the Foolography device but it’s handy nonetheless.  The process is completely automated, runs smoothly, and rarely—if ever—gets in the way of actually taking a photograph.  Plus it leaves your hotshoe open for other add-ons.

This Unleashed geotagger is going to cost you about $170 but that’s a drop in the bucket compared to most and you don’t have to deal with bulky (or glitch) geotaggers that have their own GPS unit internally.

Foolography has also released a geotagging module that fits the Nikon DX000 series as well which retails for the same price.
