And overshadows it’s much more budget-friendly cousin the PX950N.
LG has been an innovator in technology and household gadgetry for years and their entries into the modern LCD and Plasma TV arena have been quite impressive so far. Yet LG is not satisfied with their own solid foothold and wants to make a big splash at this year’s IFA. They’re bringing out the big guns with their 180 plasma prototype (the world’s largest).
You’re not going to be seeing one of these bad boys in a Best Buy near you anytime in the near future but the tech necessary to create this monstrosity will certainly trickle down to the consumer market sooner rather than later.
The smaller, more portable PX950N debuts at the same time and while exact specs aren’t exactly freely available (at least not until the big reveal on Wednesday September 1st) it looks like this beast features a 600Hz refresh rate and Multi Picture Format so still shots and video from your 3D cameras and camcorders will display properly. For hardware, the TV is pretty well equipped with a wireless audio video link and NetCast.
This is the first plasma to be awarded the coveted 3D THX certificate but you can bet it probably won’t be LG’s last.
