As answer to the Microsoft BlueTrack technology, Logitech has introduced  two mice that use another technology (by Logitech) to work in any surface including clear glass that is at least 4mm thick.

The mouse are called “Performance MX” and “Anywhere MX”. They use a laser tracking technology named Darkfield, which perform a microscopic process to work even on a dusty layer or a surface with small imperfections (see video). In fact, this technology allows the mice to track on glass, granite, or other surfaces where the move is not tracked efficiently with regular mice. Both mice also use the new slick unifying receiver in order to support RF-based Logitech devices by using an USB adapter.

The Performance MX is intended to work with desktop computers and has some configurable buttons on a lateral panel as well as a Micro USB cable that allows to charge the mouse even when it is being used. Also, it has a side-to-side scrolling that make the wheel work as a force-sensitive control, so you can, for example, navigate around web pages in a quick way.

On the other hand, the Anywhere MX has a reduced size compared with the Performance MX. It is intended to be used with laptops.

Apparently, those mice will be available for sale at the end of this month.
