Accompanied by his partners (HTC, LG, and Orange) Steve Ballmer, Microsoft Chief Executive, has introduced the new Windows Phones that include new software and services, which promise to be very user-friendly. The next generation of Windows Phones is based on Windows Mobile 6.5 and has an interface that will allow users to enjoy a better browsing experience. Also, the new Windows Phones will offer two new services, which are included in their features: the first one is My Phone that will allow to synchronize text messages, photos, videos and contacts of the mobile phone via Web. And Windows MarketPlace, a new online site where all the applications for Windows Mobile will be listed; from there, the users will be able to download contents in a direct, quick and simple way.

New cell phone: Microsoft announces the Windows Phones

“Windows phones bring together the best of the Web, the PC and the phone so you can connect instantly to the experiences you care about, no matter where you are”, Steve Ballmer declared. “We’re working with partners across the industry to deliver a new generation of Windows phones that break down the barriers between people, information and applications and provide great end-to-end experiences that span your entire life, at work and at home”, he added.

Windows Mobile 6.5, the new version of the operating system, which was presented during the Mobile World Congress, includes a new dashboard that can be customized with the most important information for users. Besides, it has a control panel with shortcuts into different functions like email checking on your phone, text messages options, missed calls notification and calendar. It also includes a more simple touch-screen interface to be more friendly-finger: it can be used with one finger. An updated version of Internet Explorer Mobile is also included; the renovated browser is able to execute up to 48 percent more assigned tasks than other browsers and phones studied, according to a study contracted by Microsoft. Apparently, this advantage is attributed to the compatibility with a lot of contents and applications (plugins?)

My Phone is a free web service that allows user to manage and create backups of the data stored on the phone in a easy way. Of course, this service ask for a password. In this way, it will be much easier to replace the phone without worrying about losing important information. This service allows to have a totally synchronized backup copy. That is to say, users can keep an “image” of the phone stored in the cloud. Contacts, schedules, text messages and other data would be up to date all the time, just in case your phone gets lost or you want to replace it. In addition, users will be able to access and manage the videos and photos stored on their Windows phones by using the services offered by My Phone. Also, by using My Phone, the users can share their photos with their family or friends. At this time, My Phone is only available in a beta version.
