FM transmitters are always a bit of a crap shoot. Most don’t have the power to overcome the ambient FM “radiation” especially in urban areas. However, many folks suffering from older model cars simply do not have auxiliary audio input jacks built into their stereo systems. New Potato has boldly launched itself into this market with a rather flashy-looking new device that made me sit up and take notice—maybe it’s just the cool blue lights.
The TuneLink Auto looks like a cigarette lighter plug in but what it does is pretty cool. You can actually sync your iDevice (the TuneLink supports iPod, iPhone, and iPad input) via Bluetooth and then this little thingamajig spits out FM waves directly to your antennae!

The little plug also features a USB port you can use to charge said device while it is in use and a 3.5mm headphone port in case you want to go old school.
However, the thing that might put the brakes on New Potato’s little Bluetooth plug is the heavy $100 price tag. When you can pick up similar devices for half that, do they really think the glowing blue light is going to be enough to swing buyers into opening their wallets? My guess is yes but they’ve also thrown in a free App (available soon from the Apple App Store) that can control your TuneLink Auto for free!
