Sony introduced its first digital camera with sweep panorama technology. The new model Cyber-shot HX1 can take 224-degree panorama photos in a single and easy step. Also, it is the first Cyber-shot camera that uses the Exmor Cmos technology, which allows to reach burst speeds of 10 frames per second at full 9.1 megapixel resolution.

The HX1 is different of most digital still cameras that use an electronic shutter to achieve high speed. The difference consists in the fact the Cybershot HX1 has a mechanical shutter that helps reduce distortion when photographing an object in movement. Compared to the photos taken with traditional sensors, the Cybershot HX1 takes photos with around 50 percent less noise.
The A/D conversion of its chip reduces to the minimum the image degradation that can be produced during analogue processing. The HX1 model has two scene modes that reduce the noise in a considerable way.
In addition, with the high-speed shutter Exmor CMOS sensor technology, the camera can take shots within a fraction of a second. After that, the camera superimposes the six shots in a single shot, then calculates the position of objects in each frame and composes the final photo in the more realistic possible way, so the result is impressive enough to produce more clearer and sharper images.
