The images published on some websites and the video you can see above (about the new PSP GO) are very illustrative of many design aspects for the new Sony’s PlayStation Portable but they are not very helpful if we want to know the real size of the handheld game console. For that reason, it is really interesting to take a look at the comparison that was made in a website called Kotaku. Basically, the website made a comparison between the size of this new handheld console and its predecessor (the PSP-3000), the iPhone and Nintendo DSi.

Some people have not realized how small the PSP Go is. But it is evident when comparing with other gadgets, including the first PSP version. Actually, it is only a little bigger than an iPhone!
Although it doesn’t seem so at first, the redesign has affected the screen size; however, the reduction is not dramatic. The new screen is 11% smaller than the PSP-3000 screen.

The numbers the Kotaku Team have published indicate that the handheld console is 43% lighter than the PSP-3000. So, we can say PSP GO is really really really light because we know the previous model is not precisely a heavy console. Actually, it is also really lightweight.

Techni,
0.5 inches is 11% of 4.3 inches , which is the diagonal size of the PSP-3000.

Actually, 22% smaller. True that 3.8 is 11% less than 4.3, but that only tells you that the diagonal measurement of the new unit is 11% less than that of the old. But the screen SIZE (viewable area, measured in square inches) is about 6.06 for the new unit, versus about 7.77 for the old, a difference of about 22%

The new screen is 8% (0.5 inches) smaller, not 11%
