Apple Releases iPad 2 Specifications
3 Mar 2011 - By Omar Mariño
Apple just recently released the specifications of its next generation iPad device (named the iPad 2). In comparison to the current version of the iPad the iPad 2 is actually quite an upgrade. So what’s different about this version?
Yes, it will be thinner and lighter but the outside specs aren’t really all that appealing. It’s the internals that will really make the difference.
For starters the iPad 2 will be running on a 1GHz dual core processor (instead of a single core). There will be a front-facing VGA camera presumably for FaceTime video conferencing or just snapping glamour shots of yourself. There will also be a 720p rear camera as well which is something the first generation iPad should have had but didn’t.
The iPad 2 will also come equipped with a gyroscope in addition to the traditional accelerometer which might open up the way for some truly interesting applications (or lead to a bunch of exploitive games clogging the App Store).
In addition, there will be three versions of the iPad 2 ready to overtake the world upon release. Of course you’ll be able to snap up the AT&T version but Verizon will also have its own model. In addition, if you want to go the “cheap” route, there will be a WiFi only model as well.
Other than that, the two will be pretty much the same. Stay tuned for more updates.

If you’ve ever wanted to show off that cool video you’ve got sitting on your iDevice, chanes are you’ve had to resort to handing said device around the room so your friends could watch it. Apple has never really conquered the whole exporting video debacle in a satisfactory way and even third party companies like RocketFish had trouble getting reliable, high-quality transfer achieved. That hassle may be a thing of the past now thanks to Scosche and the Sneakpeek II. Read more >>
Apple Launches iBook Store Across Platforms
21 Jun 2010 - By Omar Mariño
This app is pretty slick if it holds up to the specs listed. It’s an eBook reader from Apple that’s tied to the iBook store and is now available on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. It’s definitely not a Kindle and was definitely designed for the iPad but it works passably well on the other two platforms. Read more >>
PC / Tablet Industry – Kindle Getting a Revamp in Response to iPad Success
29 May 2010 - By Omar Mariño
Even though Amazon just launched its new Kindle 2 in February 2009, the eBook giant is releasing a thinner, sleeker version that’s also supposed to be “more responsive” in August 2010. The device is no doubt a direct response to Apple’s iPad’s record sales (1 Million iPads in one month isn’t too shabby) and the success of the iBook store. But is the new device too little too late? Not a Phone, Not a Tablet Computer, The Dell Streak is Something Else Altogether
26 May 2010 - By Omar Mariño
Dell’s new 5 inch tablet-like device contains the guts of a smart phone but has the power of an iPad. So what do you call something like that? That depends on how you’re going to use it, I would think. While there are angry debaters on both sides of aisle on this one, it’s clear that the streak is designed to be a direct competitor to Apple’s iPad. Which device will come out on top?
