Plantronics Pairing Bluetooth Solution – Calisto 800: the Ultimate Speakerphone
29 Jan 2011 - By Omar Mariño

You’ve read about the Plantronics Voyager Pro UC Bluetooth headset by now (and if you haven’t, you should) but what can you use that lovely little clip-on for other than your cell phone?  How about pairing it with Plantronics’ new Calisto 800 speakerphone and creating one of the coolest conferencing devices to ever grace your offices?

This phone is really more than a phone.  Instead of being tied to the old jack-in-the-wall, the Plantronics Calisto 800 series phone can connect to a mobile phone via Bluetooth and to a PC (for VOIP calls) via USB.  It’s like getting three phones in one and eliminates the connectivity chokehold that keeps productivity low.

Headset – Bluetooth Plantronics Voyager Pro
27 Jan 2011 - By Omar Mariño

Remember when Bluetooth first hit the cell phone industry and everybody and their grandmother (literally) had one of those hands-free thingies strapped to the side of their head?  I tried to forget those days but they just keep coming back to haunt me.  The Voyager Pro (from Plantronics) is hoping that it can bring a little of the sexy back to Bluetooth headsets with its sleek design and non-intrusive footprint.  Does it work?  Maybe . . .

One of the cool features of this thing is the auto answer.  When you have an incoming call, all you have to do is put the headset on your ear and the phone picks up.  You don’t have to tap any buttons, talk to the thing, or even do the hokey pokey.  As a sort of adjunct to that feature, the Smart Call Transfer feature will automatically send calls to your phone instead of your headset if the headset is off or away from the phone.

New Iogear’s Keyboard: Wireless Peripheral Boats Bluetooth Connectivity
13 Jan 2011 - By Omar Mariño

Wireless keyboards are becoming so commonplace that when companies announce new models, there really isn’t anything newsworthy on which to report.  However, Iogear’s new Bluetooth keyboard is a bit different from the rest of the pack.  The GKM611B features a built-in touchpad (a tiny one that’s nearly too small to be of any use anyway) but that won’t get many people excited.  Instead, it’s the extensive Bluetooth connectivity that’s going to make this board sell. iPad Keyboard Case: ClamCase Now Available to Turn You iPad Into a Laptop
21 Dec 2010 - By Omar Mariño

ClamCase was one of the first hardshell cases announced for Apple’s iPad tablet (perhaps you recall my first impressions).  It’s simple in design, doesn’t feature any bells or whistles, and does exactly what it is supposed to (protect your iPad and metamorphose it from a fun tablet play toy into a real workhorse).  If you’ve wanted one of these stylish little things, you’re wait is almost over.  They’re available for sale now… but you won’t get it until January no matter how much you beg. Apple Computer / Keyboard / Keys – LMP’s New Bluetooth Keypad
1 Dec 2010 - By Omar Mariño

So you’ve got your fancy new Apple Keyboard and that’s so thin you’re not even sure if there’s electronics in there or if it’s just fairy magic that makes it work.  Notice anything missing?  How about a number pad?  I don’t really know what Apple was thinking when they released this thing into the wild without one but that’s another story all together.  There have been several third party attempts at creating an add-on that brings back the functionality that gamers and productivity hounds can’t live without but none have cut the mustard.  LMP is hoping that their device will take off and make them some money and from the looks of it they may just be onto something. New Potato Shows Off New Bluetooth Transmitter FM for Your iDevice
25 Nov 2010 - By Omar Mariño

FM transmitters are always a bit of a crap shoot.  Most don’t have the power to overcome the ambient FM “radiation” especially in urban areas.  However, many folks suffering from older model cars simply do not have auxiliary audio input jacks built into their stereo systems.  New Potato has boldly launched itself into this market with a rather flashy-looking new device that made me sit up and take notice—maybe it’s just the cool blue lights. Jawbone’s New Jambox Bluetooth Speakers will Keep You Rocking—For a Price.
20 Nov 2010 - By Omar Mariño

Yes, these new Jambox Bluetooth speakers from Jawbone do look a little bit like Legos and they are a bit pricey (okay so $200 each is a little bit more than a little pricey) but they’re slick, sophisticated, and create sound that rivals top-tier home theater systems.  So if you want some of the best audio money can buy but have a wallet that’s a little shallower than you’d like it to be, these new speakers will get your crib pimped (or whatever lingo those young folks are using today) and keep your ears happy.
