The Toshiba Thrive hits Best Buy Shelves
12 Jul 2011 - By Omar Mariño
Maybe the Toshiba Thrive is not one of the most revolutionary tablets to hit the marketplace this year but it is certainly one of the newest. While display models have been on store shelves for quite some time, the official retail release date for Toshiba’s little Android-powered tablet wasn’t until yesterday (July 10th). In addition to having some sleek and useful styling, the tablet is also extremely functional with full-sized ports for those of us who really don’t like having micro USB and HDMI cords that only fit one digital accessory. So what do you get for your $480 when you go to your local Best Buy store? Read more >>

The HP TouchPad emerged onto the scene as a major competitor with Apple’s iPad but now that the machine has been on the market (and subsequently torn down so we all know what’s inside one of these beasts) we’re left to wonder if HP can afford to compete with the big dog. Read more >>

New Tablets 2011: The Mania Continues!
2 Jun 2011 - By Omar Mariño
I’m still not hooked on the appeal of tablet computers. I like the concept but what they lack in functionality still has me believing that laptops are—at least for the moment—the superior portable computing solution. However, as they say, there’s no accounting for taste, so for those of you who may think my opinion a bit outdated and prefer a pocket-sized gadget (or at least small satchel-sized), this roundup is for you. Let’s start with MSI’s new offerings in the tablet field, the Enjoy 7 and Enjoy 10 WindPads. Read more >>
New Olivetti Tablet: Gadgets that Keep in the Middle of the Road
15 Mar 2011 - By Omar Mariño
While tablets have never been known for their computing power, it’s hard to see why more competitors haven’t tried to distance themselves from the middle-of-the-road pack that’s dominating consumer sales. Every new tablet you read about seems to have very similar specifications and there’s rarely anything to get excited about. Olivetti decided it would be a good idea to put out yet another okay tablet PC rather than shoot for something ingenious. Read more >>

Apple Releases iPad 2 Specifications
3 Mar 2011 - By Omar Mariño
Apple just recently released the specifications of its next generation iPad device (named the iPad 2). In comparison to the current version of the iPad the iPad 2 is actually quite an upgrade. So what’s different about this version?
Yes, it will be thinner and lighter but the outside specs aren’t really all that appealing. It’s the internals that will really make the difference.
For starters the iPad 2 will be running on a 1GHz dual core processor (instead of a single core). There will be a front-facing VGA camera presumably for FaceTime video conferencing or just snapping glamour shots of yourself. There will also be a 720p rear camera as well which is something the first generation iPad should have had but didn’t.
The iPad 2 will also come equipped with a gyroscope in addition to the traditional accelerometer which might open up the way for some truly interesting applications (or lead to a bunch of exploitive games clogging the App Store).
In addition, there will be three versions of the iPad 2 ready to overtake the world upon release. Of course you’ll be able to snap up the AT&T version but Verizon will also have its own model. In addition, if you want to go the “cheap” route, there will be a WiFi only model as well.
Other than that, the two will be pretty much the same. Stay tuned for more updates.

Dell Tablet PC – Latitude XT3 Convertible
10 Feb 2011 - By Omar Mariño
Need the functionality of a laptop but love the ergonomics and portability of a tablet? Dell’s new Latitude XT3 convertible may be just what the doctor ordered. The massive 13 inch screen actually rotates and folds back on itself converting this fairly powerful laptop into a tablet that outspecs most of its competition.
