Sony’s BDX-S500U Blu-Ray Drive Shows Us How Fast is Too Fast

The BDX-S500U from Sony is an external Blu-Ray drive that really pushes the limits of the USB 2.0 technology it’s saddled with.  It can shred through single layer BD-R discs at up to 6X and dual layer discs only slow it down a little.  (They suffer a mere 4X burn speed.)  Sounds great until you realize that that exceeds the max transfer speed for the cable between it and your PC.  Read more >>
