To Be Expected: Bose Makes You Pay More for a Bluetooth Headset

When you hear the brand name Bose attached to anything, you know you’re going to have to pay more for it.  Most of the time, that extra cost is justified due to the quality of the sound that the device (whatever it may be) produces.  Is the new Bose Bluetooth headset an exception to that rule?

The company is promoting this little device hard, calling the device a “single-ear headset” rather than what it really is, just another Bluetooth earpiece.  But you might expect that with proprietary technology and the Bose name to back it up that there really would be something more for your money.   Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot that a company can do with an earpiece to make it special—even Bose.

What they’ve created is really a well-branded device that has a hallmark of quality and luxury but really just reproduces mediocre sound.  It’s not really Bose’s fault.  Technology can only get so small and trying to cram so much into a single earpiece in this day and age is always going to result ini “okay” sound quality.

Unfortunately, you’re still going to have to pay for the company name if you want to pick one of these up in early November.  In fact, you’re going to have to pay to the tune o$150.  That’s a lot to ask for the shiny silver logo but there will be plenty of people out there that will pay for it.  For my money, I’d pick something more “economy” just because I’d tend to lose/break/sit on something that small anyway.
