After 10 years of continuous production without any substantial changes, Honda S2000 will say goodbye at any time in 2009. This is another Honda’s move, which also decided to dump its next-generation NSX sports car. So it seems the Japanese maker will be devoted especially to produce low-end cars or cars designed for the mass of people.

At this time, Honda S2000 is sold in 64 countries. Japan and USA are the main markets for this car. After ten long years of production, 110,000 units have been sold around the world.
The other car model that will be discontinued is the Cadillac XLR. This retractable hardtop convertible, which is a direct competitor to the Lexus SC430 and the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, is the most expensive production Cadillac currently available (the XLR-V costs more than $100 thousand).
One possible replacement would have been the retractable hardtop Evoq concept car, which is built on the Chevrolet Corvette platform but uses Cadillac’s premium Northstar overhead-cam engines. But the production of this model has been suspended (at least temporarily). If we keep in mind Cadillac will not bring out the CTS coupe until 2010, then the products offered by Cadillac and Honda in 2009 will be more practical and less expensive.
