Vizio Jumps On Passive 3D Bandwagon with their Theater LED TVs

It wasn’t too long ago that LG promised us flicker-free 3D TV thanks to its passive 3D glasses and now there’s another contender in the passive 3D race.  That contender is bargain TV maker Vizio.  They’ve decided that passive 3D is the way to go.  It’s cheaper, easier on viewer’s eyes (and wallets), and nearly as good as “the real” thing.  But Vizio wants to make a big splash in the market and with a 71 inch screen they’re going to be doing just that.

You read that right:  a 71 inch 3D screen.  This monster is just the granddaddy of the bunch.  In fact, Vizio is launching 21 new models that range in size from the big boy down to a modest 21 incher.

The specs are a little different for each of these models and some include edge lighting, and LED backlighting (which annoys me more than enhances my TV viewing experience), and even a few with Yahoo! Widgets built right in.

These puppies won’t come cheap and Vizio knows not to scare potential customers away with huge price tags.  They’re keeping quite on the cost as yet but it will come out sooner or later.
