What Do Your Phone (Cellular) and TV have in Common? Android!

Sony has taken a big hit in the recent past with its sales slipping across the board.  Upstarts like LG are putting the hurt on the technology giant and in turn Sony is looking to get by with a little help from its friends.  What does the “old skool” tech manufacturer have up its sleeve?  How about a smart TV equipped with Android and Intel inside?

That’s right, Sony has teamed up with software giant Google, hardware stalwarts Logitech, and the chip makers extraordinaire at Intel to create one of the world’s first true hybrid Televisions.

Sure, you can get TVs that stream internet content but they’re not much good for anything but streaming music or Netflix.  Sony’s “Dragonpoint”is different.  It will be able to do much more than run simple content retrieval widgets.  Think of it like a half-breed PC that sits in your living room.

Sony Bravia

This is not the Dragonpoint, Just an ordinary Bravia

To make it even more computer like (and hopefully easier to use than previous iterations of Web TVs) they’re bringing Logitech in to create a full QWERTY remote control.

The new Bravia models will be equipped with Intel Atom processors and may just prove to be an adequate platform for games and other software.  The TVs may even include built-in storage so you can save your favorite content right in the box.

The world will know more about this exciting new project on May 19th when the official announcement is made at Google I/O May 19th.

EVER TRIED PROOFREADING BEFORE SENDING A POST TO THE INTERWEBS? TRY “THEY’RE” INSTEAD OF “THEIR”. THE FORMER IS A CONTRACTION CONSISTING OF THE WORDS “THEY ARE”.
